40% of the people who voted in the April 1st
election were in support of the fiber optic network that the cities
were proposing to build. Those 40% obviously wanted it and would
sign up tomorrow if it were available! We've proven our point: it's
not just a handful of computer geeks who wanted to see this project
succeed.
But 60% of the voters said no. We believe that
there were a number of reasons people voted no. Obviously a number
of people genuinely have objections to the project, even after having
heard the facts. But we believe that the majority of the people
who voted no were swayed by the millions of dollars of negative
advertising by SBC and Comcast. The true facts about this initiative
did not get out to enough people. They believed the lies.
So we don't want to see this opportunity disappear!
In order to move forward, we have to get out the facts to all the
people who DIDN'T VOTE and to those "no" voters who didn't
have a chance to learn the facts.
We need your help! If you are in favor of seeing
this fiber optic network become a reality in our communities, help
us in our efforts. You voted YES, now help make it happen!
